The body must be sound with no sharp edges. The exhaust must be secure and emissions within the limits.

After the test

If your car does not pass

We explain each item on the test sheet in plain English and give you a price to put it right. You can book the repair with us or take the car elsewhere. If a fault is marked dangerous, the car should not be driven until it is repaired.

MOT reminders

Your details and your vehicle are kept on the garage's own customer list. The garage can send you an email before your MOT is due, to the email address on that list. If there is no email address on the list, no reminder is sent.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I have my car serviced?
Your handbook sets the interval, usually every 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first. Many cars also show a service reminder on the dashboard. If you do not have the handbook, a yearly service is a sensible rule of thumb.
Will you tell me if you find something that needs fixing?
Yes. We tell you what we found, what it would cost to put right and how urgent it is. Nothing beyond what you booked goes ahead until you have agreed it.
How long does an MOT take?
About 45 minutes. You are welcome to wait in reception or leave the car with us and pick it up when we call.
What happens if my car fails its MOT?
We go through each item on the test sheet, give you a price to put it right and book the repair in if you want us to do it. You are free to take the car elsewhere. If a fault is marked dangerous, the car should not be driven until it is repaired.
Can I book every service online?
Every service on the prices page can be booked online, and the price is shown before you confirm. For a repair, book a diagnostics slot and we will quote once we have looked at the car.
How do I change a booking?
Call us on 0113 496 0142 as early as you can, so that another customer can take the slot.
